Reactions to the death of Robert Forster were many. The actor, known for his kind demeanor on screen and off, passed away Friday, Oct 11, 2019 from brain cancer. This according to his publicist. Cockatoo Inn fans might know Forster best for his role as Max Cherry, the bail bondsman and romantic interest of Jackie Brown.

The film’s director, Quentin Tarantino, was a fan of Forster and had long wished to cast him in a film. Many credit Tarantino for reviving Forster’s career in the late 90s. Forster would go on to earn an Oscar nomination for his role as Max Cherry. On Saturday, Tarantino was quoted in Deadline as saying:

“Today the world is left with one less gentleman. One less square shooter. One less good man. One less wonderful father. One less marvelous actor. I remember all the breakfasts we had at silver spoons. All the stories. All the kind words. All the support. Casting Robert Forster in Jackie Brown was one of the best choices I’ve ever made in my life. I will miss you dearly my old friend. Bye bye Max. Bye bye Miles. Bye bye Bob.”

The actor’s death was shocking for some Breaking Bad fans, who eagerly awaited the October 11 release of El Camino, a Breaking Bad Movie. Forster, who appears in the film, died the same day. The film’s star, Aaron Paul, paid tribute on Twitter:
